Kennedy
Hi I am involved in a production where the audience will be walking around the performance area. I am looking for some small speakers that can be discretely rigged and can be controlled from a mixer. The job of the speakers is to play sound effects and some spoken word to a small area around where the speaker is situated. I was looking at buying some galaxy hot spots but wondered if anyone on here had some better ideas. My budget is around £200 to £300 for two to three speakers but the lower the cost the better as my budget is tight. . Any ideas please? Many ThanksLee
cedd
A recent thread on here was asking about JBL Control 1's. Are they a bit too small?
GR1
You don't say how long the show runs for. If you can afford to hire, the EM Acoustics EMS51 is much better than a Control 1. Very good and about £25+VAT per week to hire.
Paul J Need
I'll second that for the JBL Control 1's - Yes an old design but small, good bass response, good for speech and effects and you can probably buy a pair for £
laolu
If you don't need much power and/or HiFi, would some computer speakers do? Otherwise one + for the JBLs. Or Behringer MS16, less than 100 Euro per pair.
GaryNattrass
Another vote for the JBL control ONE, pretty bomb proof and cheap as chips!
Brian
...and can be controlled from a mixer. This would suggest to me that the OP is looking for active speakers.
Kennedy
Thanks for all your responses and advice. Decided to go with the control 1's in the end and they have worked out perfectly. Thanks again.
