Harley Godzisz Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Greetings people of the Blue Room! This is my first post here, but have been reading the site for some time now along with some friends who are active members on this board. http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif I have recently come into posession of a "Void LiveDrive" unit Also known as an "Xilica DLP-4080" Loudspeaker Management System Controller. For normal DJ usage, I use a pair of "Electro-Voice SX300P" speakers. Now... I have since found out that Electro-Voice produced the unit "Xp200a" system controller specifically for the "SX" series of speakers. This unit supposedly gives the speakers a nicer sound and gives better use of the LF range from the LF driver. Does anybody know what the EQ settings are that are hardwired into the Xp200a? As I would liek to replicate these into the Xilica unit.I have searched High and Low for these for the past month and have come up with nothing!! Many thanks for all help in advance!

laolu Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Hi, I've got an EV Deltamax system, also with 12" woofers and 1" compressors, where the crossover is at 1,250 Hz. I agree, the Deltamax is a different baby altogether, but you could try the 1,250 and see if you like the result. Since you're DJing, you may want to add a sub? Then go maybe from 120 Hz down for the sub. Norbert
csg Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Norbert, with respect, that is incorrect. The SX300P is a powered speaker without separate high and low inputs, so trying to set a crossover point between the 12 and 1" driver is completely pointless. To the original poster, Powered speakers invariably have some degree of on board DSP, designed by the manufacturer to give what in their eyes is the best sound. Adding external DSP is unlikely to significantly improve matters, and you may push the speaker beyond its thermal capabilities, as on board powered modules often have basic or limited cooling. An external EQ is as far as you should go, other than perhaps messing with the high pass crossover - naturally if you are using subs, a suitable high pass filter bringing the EV's in above the subs will naturally increase headroom. The LiveDrive unit will act as a good parametric EQ and high pass filter, so no reason to change this - and you can also use its limiting functions as well to reduce the likelihood of damage from over zealous use
laolu Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Oh oh  sorry then, must have confused it with some other EV cab............
Harley Godzisz Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 Sorry, I ment to put "passive" rather than "P". My bad. http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gifThe Xp200a is effectively a 2 in 2-4 out small basic version of a Livedrive with only the essential bits for specific settings. Does the same job as a Bose system controller.I want to find out the eq setting that are set in a Xp200a unit.
Doug Siddons Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 If its of any use I have the curve for the HZ HE300 system controller which works quite well on SX300 and Bose 802's pm me your email address
