Simon Lewis Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Our friends at BEIRG need your help... Survey Request
paulears Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Unless I'm thick - one of their aims is to bring back access to frequencies just below ch 70. Er didn't we just clear out of there?
Shez Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I went through the survey. You're right Paul. I pointed out that we've only just shifted to Ch.38 and that any plans that didn't include use of that wouldn't be much use to us.
cedd Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Indeed, I've just written much the same. Having just had the turmoil of vacating one chunk of spectrum, I don't really see moving again as a particularly attractive deal. Especially considering that the compensation money this time round came from the revenue from the auction of the spectrum itself (or that was my understanding of what was supposed to happen) - where would it come from this time? Now some EXTRA spectrum - that'd be very nice, but not at the expense of what we've already got!
kerry davies Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I have not done the survey but it is important that those of you using the equipment make these comments, vitally important. Whatever happened in the UK is a totally separate matter from whatever the EU decides as an EU-wide solution. They need to know your fears and concerns because, unlike the UK government, they are more than likely to respect them and do something about them.
Bobbsy Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I have not done the survey but it is important that those of you using the equipment make these comments, vitally important. They need to know your fears and concerns because, unlike the UK government, they are more than likely to respect them and do something about them. Well, MAINLY separate but, unless my memory is even more faulty than I thought... In an original document on frequency planning, OFCOM/JFMG proposed leaving Channel 69 available on the same UK Shared basis we used to enjoy. It was only after the EU took a decision that they wanted to allocate that for mobile communications that the plan was changed, eventually leading to the Channel 38 mess you're presently enjoying. So...what happens with the EU does affect the UK.
paulears Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Maybe my idea to keep back a pile of ch69 kit was more sensible than I thought? "harmonised" does seem a very lovely aim, but probably never one to be fully achieved!
