DI Box Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have an MTR DI-2 (a 2 channel active DI box).

Recently I tried using it with a gtr or keys (can't remember which).

But all I was getting from either channel I tried, was a really nasty clipping type of distortion signal and a bit of the clean signal, but not really much.

what do people think the problem could be with the box? (I basically tracked it down to this device).

I have another MTR box a DI-3 (single channel active DI), but this one works absolutely fine.

Could it be the circuits?

Thanks,

Simon

I had this problem with a D.I once before, it was pretty cheap and nasty so wasnt totally surprised to be honest!! I tracked it down to being 2 or 3 dry solder joints inside, I've used a few of the MTR D.I's and have always found them to be pretty good build quality.

Might be worth pointing out that messing around with a soldering iron inside may void warrantee's etc. Sorry for sounding patronising if that does!

Hope this helps!

Munky :D
