Blue USB light.

Remember the old thread about the limited availability of USB lights with blue LEDs? Well I've added a project to my website that shows how to hack a cheap Poundland light into a blue LED version. (Or indeed any colour you like.)

Big Clive's USB light hack.

Yes I know you could just wrap a bit of gel round an existing white one, or indeed just keep it white in the first place. But it's more fun to hack it up with some LEDs of your choice.

I love the disclaimer on one of the other projects:

"This project has a high risk of burns, chemical allergy, solvent asphyxiation, more burns, explosion, complete house destruction and odious aroma, and therefore should not be attempted by anyone."

Which just really makes me want to do it instantly!

Am I the only one who wants to make a DMX controlled one (well, many)?

It's easy enough to hack into the unit for direct access to the motor, which actually just runs until it stalls. Add a spark igniter that comes on at the same time and you have a mini fireball machine with low running costs.

Pretty much like the real aerosol powered "DMX fire machines".
