versatile boxes for onstage

I'm seeking versatile black plastic boxes for a ballet production.

I have seen some in a school drama studio, but I can't find the supplier. I've tried a a forum search and Stagelink.

 

In my mind, the school ones were stackable sets in sturdy black plastic, with a hand hole. The big one was approx 500mm cube and two smaller similar boxes could be Russian dolled inside for storing.

 

Anyone know who supplies these, or something like it. Quick to carry on, can be sat posed upon, draped as a rock draped as a seat, and struck quickly.

 

I could make wooden ones, but I'd rather not. - the plastic would be lighter.

Google Really Useful boxes, their recycled range is black, leave you to risk assess / judge suitable for posing on but have handles cut out in the sides.

 

Under Blue Room Rules, I have to own up selling them in my day job (and also to being slightly addicted to buying them all my sons toys are in the clear ones, plus my office seems to becoming full of them)

...especially the transparent open front version.

 

Although I suspect the recycled RUB will have too many edges for this job, I look forward to becoming the proud owner of a couple.

 

The issue may be solved, as the director has said she doesn't need them for rehearsal before the show week, which is half-term, therefore I may hire the school's.

 

I'll post a link when I get a closer look.

Wenger Stage Boxes

 

Clever design.

 

They come in three sizes, have rectangular rubber feet so they don't damage dance floor. The feet fit in to matching holes for stacking either at 90 or 45 degrees to each other, and they've got little push and turn catches to mate with an adjacent box so they don't move away from each other.

(The recesses for the feet are 30 x 55 mm.

I've had to cover the top to protect the Music Box Fairy's satin-clad feet from catching in them.)

 

I'm impressed by them.

I'm just using two solo, :( SL & SR.

I really want to play with them like oversized Lego and build an octagonal battlement with steps. :** laughs out loud **:
