handyandi
Allen & Heath have joined the Personal monitor system battle. Will be interesting to see pricing. Called ME
Solstace
Was very interested to see the YouTube vid go online yesterday. And am extremely interested to see how this could integrate with our main in-house system. Feeling like it could be a bit of a binary thing... It will either add a *lot* of unhelpful complexity to the way our techs and muso's work, or it could (hopefully) simplify a lot of things. Either way I'm really pleased to see A&H introducing such a tool - and can't wait to try it myself!
Matt-onstage
I've seen the suggested pricing and it's VERY competitive. I'm not going to say anything other than that until its made public. Funny though, just as they release that Aviom do a new 36ch version of theirs ;)

Simon Lewis
I get the feeling that Aviom are fast becoming the Presonus of the personal monitoring world... Not wishing to knock any particular firm, but I have to chuckle when Presonus becomes a byword for good gear that doesn't quite hit the mark ;-)
Stuart91
I was making the comparison to the Studiolive desks, which look like they're going to be eclipsed by the latest Behringer offerings. I'm struggling to find a reason why anyone would go for an Aviom system instead of those linked to desks, like Roland M48, the Behringer system, and this latest Allen&Heath arrival. I'm sure that Presonus will continue to be respected for their preamps, interfaces, and other gear, but unless they have something truly incredible in development, they are going to become a footnote in the history of digital desks. Stuart91
A trend that seems to be continued with the 32 channel desk they announced this week... Yes, from what I can see, there's nothing very exciting there. It would caused a bit more of a stir had it been released a year or so ago. I've heard it suggested that Behringer are manufacturing their own moving faders, which is what makes it possible to have the X32 hitting the price point it does with the feature set it has. That, unfortunately, is just going to make it even harder for people like Presonus to compete. Of course the people who benefit are the users, who get more features at a lower price. And as we have seen many times in the past, they will mercilessly vote with their wallets.

They have very openly stated that they do this for the very reason you say. It makes perfect business sense considering they've used over half a million of them thus far! dbuckley
I get the feeling that Aviom are fast becoming the Presonus of the personal monitoring world... Which is entirely their own fault: Aviom practically invented the market for "proper" personal monitoring, and have sat back and milked that cash cow. Now they have companies who do integrated-into-the-digital-mix-world from Roland (and now Soundcraft) at one end, and Behringer at the other. So their market is now quite limited. They'll be toast when Yamaha join the crowd. Or maybe Yamaha will buy them.
Stuart91
Or maybe Yamaha will buy them. I think right now that's their best chance. Personal mixing is now becoming a standard feature on digital mixers, A&H no doubt got fed up of people saying "oh, you don't have it? If Yamaha or some other manufacturer want to get onto the bandwagon and save the R&D, that might be the way to do it.
Simon Lewis
Despite being one of the first with digital mixers, Yamaha haven't exactly been on the cutting edge as of late, as smaller more nimble companies seem to have bought new products and ideas to market. That's not to say that the CL and change to Dante isn't good - they're great, but the competition snuck in and stole some market share...
Pete McCrea
I believe there are Aviom cards out there that fit into the Yamaha desks, so offering some level of integration. I remember playing with Aviom personal mixers back in about 2005 - they were there first, and so able to 'milk' it, but as others have said, don't appear to have kept up. Simon Lewis
The standard Aviom (afaik) handles 16 channels. The Behringer personal monitor, likewise although you wonder if a souped up version might be built on the back of the Core? The Roland and A&H systems select from 40 channels...
