Judge
Looks a lot nicer than the previous one too. Looks less cheap, more buttons, and crucially is now the right size for aircraft carry on luggage. Not sure of price yet. I still think they need a new logo though ;)
Wol
I still think they need a new logo though ;)When everyone pronounces the company name correctly, then we'll consider a new logo ;-) Either way for if others haven't seen it: http://www.chamsys.co.uk/pcwingcompact and to go with it, a new version of the extra wing too http://chamsys.co.uk/extrawingcompact

Wol
It's short for Chameleon Systems. So "cham" as in "chameleon" and "sys" as in "systems" It's *not* short for Champagne Systems ;-)

I've heard two people pronounce it differently - "Kam-sys" (like chameleon [although I've heard people refer to "tchameleons" too]) and "Tcham-sys" (like champion) whereas I'd always thought it looked as if it ought to be "Sham-sys" (like Champagne)
cedd
Sham-sys - now there's a company I bet everybody would be rushing to deal with! :-) They look nice. Are the plastic / rubber edgings removeable? One of the things I liked about the square, boxy versions is that they butted up next to each other nicely. peza2010
I cant help but think of an extra wing compact as something off the always adverts ;) looks good!

We've not fallen into the trap of the iPad have we? ;) They look nice. Are the plastic / rubber edgings removeable? One of the things I liked about the square, boxy versions is that they butted up next to each other nicely. They're actually metal extrusions and are part of the structure of the product, so I would highly advise against taking them off! It's a whole new chassis, so they're not just bits added to the side. harrison110
I have been pronouncing it as Tcham-sys as well, I stand corrected. As a massive fan of actual positive feedback things such as clicky buttons and keyboards on mobile phones. I would love one of these to go with the software I regularly use, fader control is proving difficult on a trackpad. However money has always been a problem, and nobody seems to want to sell the old PC wing. I wonder why... ;)
mark_s
I was pronouncing it correctly until mostly everyone I spoke to either got a bit confused or ridiculed me, so I gave up ;) I'm excited for the new products that Chamsys have released lately - the compact desks in particular round the range off quite nicely and are perfect (and a vast improvement IMHO) as a small control surface for a touring or otherwise on-the-move LD. I'm very much tempted to invest, but so far haven't got as far as picking up the phone or firing off an email to get any list prices.

It would be really great if removed since it is only 2 cm wider than my Peli Case 1510 Cary On CaseIf I manage to remove the metal extrusions then it will fet perfectly on the Peli Case
