I'm looking at buying some small active cabs they need to do double duty as monitors or PA so specs need to be

- Asymmetric cabinet that can function as a wedge

- Active

- Light, closer to 10Kg than 20Kg

- Built in socket for pole mounting

So far I've come up with the HK Pro 10XA as a candidate and that's about it is there anything else on the market I've missed?

Does anyone know of anywhere where I could hire or get a pair of the HK on demo from in the east/south east of England?

I know I say it a lot, but the ZxA1 is great at this sort of thing. It might struggle to do full on rock and roll monitors, but it is surprisingly pokey for its size and weight.

The Hk is a very good box at a very good price for what you want

Have you missed a line or two off you spec?

For what you've put down, just about every speaker company makes something that fits.

...probably less than £600 a box inc vat

...wooden cabinet if possible.

From what I can see

RCF NX-M fits but is ~1K a box. TT is far too expensive.

QSC KW sort of fits but is also ~1K.

In terms of the plastic boxes available most of them don't seem to be shaped to be used on their side as a wedge.

Many of them have angled sections near the back which allow them to be set at 30 degrees or 45 degrees to vertical. They may not be obvious from looking at them though. Others have stands that can be used to set them at the required angle.

While the RCF art 310a isn't wood- it sounds great and comes in at about half your budget. Lots of people around me seem to be buying a few pairs at the moment for portable PA stuff. I've used them quite a lot and would definitely recommend them!
