East London Theatres..?

Bit of a longshot of hitting a bullseye here, but worth a punt!

We have cloths n hire from Scenic Projects for panto, which arrived today, but we found out from Scenic only a couple of days ago that one of them wasn't actually available (Scenic's error) til after a theatre in East London have finished with it on Saturday (with a Sunday getout). Puts us in a bit of a tight corner as that means it won't get back to Scenic in Lowestoft til Monday and out to us by Tuesday - we tech on Sunday and open (after Monday's dress) on Tuesday evening!

Now, I've not dealt with Scenic on this occasin to book the cloths, so leaving that negotiation to the guy who did, but I'm hoping that we can organise one of our guys popping down to London to pick up on Sunday morning. All I know at this stage is that the theatre is in East London (hopefully we'll find out WHICH in the morning), but it would be helpful if any BR member works at/with a theatre down there that has cloths from Scenic that we could arrange something with ASAP...

If this hits a target at all, can you PM me please?

Thanks

Whitelight did this once with 9 VL3000's that I had on tour.

The result. .

Whitelight personally came to the theatre in their truck with a driver and crew - helped derig them, loaded them, and drove them straight off. . .

On this case - should it not be up to scenic to drive down and collect it Saturday night and bring it to you Sunday morning?

You'd have thought so, but the only optin offered s far has been a 'maybe' delivered to us by Mon, more likely Tuesday...

The guy who booked the cloths is calling them today so we'll see what they say.

But I'm one who prefers to try t cover as many options as poss...

Scenic projects have always been pretty efficient, I've found - so I'd expect them to do everything in their power to sort it. The history is that the people behind them are basically the long term senior members of the Lowestoft Players - so they do understand the real problems this kind of cockup causes.

Well, latest is that they're getting the cloth on a wagon which is due in Chelmsford (I think) for early Monday morning so we're getting someone to drive over there first thing. They're also sending over a replacement for another cloth which is nothing like the photo we booked on the basis of...Hopefully I'll still have time to hang them and relight before the dress....

Jack and the Beanstalk is at Theatre Royal, Stratford East whereas Hackney Empire is doing Dick Whittington.

Surprised you haven't done the Googly thing, Tony. Here.

Having no direct idea of what theatres are n E London I didn't look, but then, fit up days are long and tiring....8-)

Looking at your programme, Tony, you are doing Jack and if Theatre Royal which is also doing it has your backcloth, you are possibly in trouble. Theirs finishes on the 19th which is why I posted the link.

Worth a call in case wires have got crossed and you are thinking of different Saturdays?

Yes we are doing Jack, but the cloth will be a generic panto kitchen scene - nothing specific to Beanstalk Land.

We have a guy driving to Chelmsford first thing tomorrow as the 2 cloths we need will be shipped there (don't ask!) so I should get them around mid afternoon.

And the London theatre def finished with them today.
