worldofdavep Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Has anyone faced these two off? I've used the sunstrip but as the eurolite has an led version and is about the same price I figured it's worth asking. Thanks in advance for any input
csg Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 In my opinion, the beauty of the sunstrip is that it is a a tungsten source in a increasingly LED dominated effects world. There are dozens of decent LED batten options, but none of them behave as the sunstrip does when it is twinkling away at low levels at the back of the stage, or called upon for blinder duty. So, it is for you to decide what effect you want, and buy / hire accordingly.
Brian Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 In my opinion...+1 In this type of fixture, ie 'eye-candy', you shouldn't really think of LED based units as being a replacement for filaments. The two sources look very different even when the LED unit is designed to have a similar colour temperature. At the very least I'd be surprised in the LED unit simulates the slow rise and fall times of the filament. And on a numbers note - a 3W LED is nowhere near as bright, by a long way, as a 75W halogen.
LXbydesign Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I dont think you can beat Sunstrips. My only nag as Im sure everyone else - is that the bloody lamps blow so easily.
Nicktaylor Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 "Eye candy". That wonderful phrase my 82 year old Mother has latched onto! I wont ever be using it :)
