Ben Lawrance
Afternoon Guys and Girls, I've been searching for a product that I can't seem to find, and hoped the collective of the TBR could help out. I need a stereo headphone amp, for a drummer, that takes 2 line level XLR ins, has a volume pot, and a quarter inch TRS headphone output. About a year ago, I saw a band with exactly the right thing, yet not needing it at the time, I didn't take any details. It looked very much like a canford tecpro beltpack, and took a 9v battery. Any ideas or alternative suggestions? CheersBen
Yorkie
A wired IEM: http://fischer-amps.de/en/in-ear-monitoring/hardwired-body-pack.html £150 each from Thomann. Only issue for you is it has a 3.5mm headphone jack
Richard P-W
Funnily enough, it's called a "Canford Battery Headphone Amplifier" http://www.canford.co.uk/Products/21263/20-
J Pearce
Another solution is a small mixer. When I use IEMs whilst drumming I use a little 1 mic 2 stereo mixer. The mic input is also handy for an ambient mic if drums aren't in the monitor desk/for hearing chatter in rehearsal without taking my ears in and out. tbeats
Personally I also use a little mixer for drum iem's. Something like this would fit your spec (and it's only £40!): http://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_xenyx_802.htm

That's the one. My search terms obviously didn't match up in Google. Many thanks Sir. CheersBen
Richard P-W
Another solution is a small mixer. Which I've also done in the past but despite being cheaper, they usually require mains power and the XLR inputs are reserved for mic rather than line. It's also a lot of knobs that could confuse the drummer! (Which has also happened in the past...)
Matt Riley
How about this - £30 from our German friends?
T.Colwill
Although its only got one Mic line, I've heard good things about the range of personal headphone amps that ART make, link. This one takes a XLR and what would be your monitor line from the desk and allows you to mix levels yourself.
mr_towers
How about this - £30 from our German friends? Used on quite a big (scale) musical as a headphone driver, worth well more than the £30 you pay for it. Recommended!
pisquee
http://www.richersounds.com/product/amplifiers-receivers/btech/bt928/bte-techbt928#inline Only phono inputs, but less than £30 and you can pick it up on the high street same day if desperate
TimmyP1955
Don't use anything that does not have a protective limiter. Here's the ones I'm aware of that do: There's this: http://www.rockonaudio.com/?page=PKG-001, this: http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Shure-P4HW-Hardwired-Bodypack-for-PSM-400-Systems?sku=243606, and this http://www.peavey.com/products/accessories/power/index.cfm/item/117093/number/03001320/HB2HeadPhoneAmplifier.cfm (although the limiter is a bit too accessible for my taste).
