djsmiler89
Does anyone have any channel faders laying around for sale/ hire for Strand 300 series? or even a console for sale or hire? Cheers! Ross

djsmiler89
I believe I have a couple of full submaster panels knocking around if that's any use I am looking for the channel faders really. We have a desk for a show in January but it only have 24 subs and no channel faders. Unless you can add extra sub panels to use as channel faders? gareth
Slightly confused - are you looking for individual faders in order to replace defective ones (which is what I originally thought you meant)? Or are you looking for additional fader panels to expand an existing console (which is what Tony offered)? If the former, try Stage Electrics - we've had success in sourcing replacement faders for Strand desks from them in the past.
Ynot
The only way you can add fader panels to an existing 300 is by getting (and paying for) the Strand codes to release the facilities. And I don't believe that the fader panels can realistically be set up as channel faders anyway (though I may be wrong I don't think I am). I do have a 300 available for hire, BUT that also has just 24 subs, not channel faders so you'd be unlikely to be any better off.
djsmiler89
Sorry, I don't seem to be explaining myself very well. I have a desk with 24 subs and I am looking for a panel of channel faders so I can set the levels on the faders rather than having to type it in to the keypad. Ynot
Well, as I said - I don't believe that you can set up the 24-fader panels as channel faders - they are only meant to be subs. And even if you could, you would need to purchase the licence code to do so, and those are not cheap.

The OP could conceivably program one channel onto each sub, and effectively give himself 'channel faders'. Quite why one would want to do this with a command line console I don't know- programming/operating off faders- especially 48, would take a lot longer than using the console as the manufacturers intended. Unless the intended application is not what we would expect? Ross, do you know how many channels/subs your console is licensed for? It should tell you somewhere in Report- my console is in work at the moment, so I can't tell you exactly where. Ian

It'll have the number of channels, faders and panels.
henny
On the 300 you can have wings setup line a manual 2 preset desk with each wing giving you 12 channels with 2 presets with mastering and cross fading on the first go button and the cue stack on the second. I know this behaviour is limited by the linceceing of ferures on the desk
Ynot
I stand corrected on this point as I've just had a dig for my 300 manual and indeed you CAN configure an existing fader wing to be 12 or 24 channel faders - my apologies. Page 90 of the ver 2.6 manual describes this in detail. But like Ian says - not really sure why you'd want to do this with a console like the 300. HOWEVER, this doesn't change the fact that to add any physical fader panels to that which you already have on the console will require an upgraded software key/password, for which you will have to pay Strand. Kazeja
If you want to expand the number of channels/attributes/applications,then yes, you need a password($$$) from strand. If you want to expand the number of fader panels, you can either connect the extra panel and do a panel scan or edit the 220node.cfg file and add the panel id in the appropriate place at the end of the file. Minimum basic system from memory is 50 channels. (2 fader panels (48 faders) worth). Using the mode button, the console can be configured as 2 preset (24 channel faders) or single preset (48 channel faders), with/without subs. If your password allows you 100 or more channels, then as far as I'm aware you can just add the fader panels and do a panel scan or manually edit the 220node.cfg file. Powering up a brain with just the control panel connected will not get rid of your channels. Fader panel can be added/configured to use the number of channels allowed by your password. (I think the maximum number of fader panels is 5). K

K We tried adding two more panels to our 300 which has one main console and one fader panel (licensed for 125 intensity channels) and although it saw the panels and knew they were there (the lights came on to indicate the panel order) we couldn't get it to use the extra faders as subs or channel faders. So I guess it's more wonga for enhanced licence time.
