PaulDF
Hi,can anyone remember off the top of their heads what range of DMX start addresses these units can be set to? I have left the instruction books in the box at the theatre and it is cold outside! I can't see an instruction manual on the web which looks like the correct one for the unit:http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_led_par_56_black_floor.htm?gclid=CKDnkvCVjrQCFSbMtAodWC8A1QMaybe I'm being thick but I can't see any links to the instructions on the thomann site either!I seem to remember some cheap units only going up to a start address of low number i.e. 127, not the full 512. dosxuk
The ones with only 8 DIP switches for address only use the first 7 switches for the DMX address (DIP 8 is mode), so they can be used up to 127. ( Switches are [1] [2] [4] [8] [16] [32] [64] [Mode] ) I can't remember off the top of my head if DIP 8 needs to be on or off for DMX mode. timsabre
The ones with 4+10 dip switches require 1+3 on on the 4 way block to select 3 channel RGB DMX mode, but you can have the full 512 channels on the 10 way switch.

Cheers Paul They use dipswitches 1-7 for addressing, ergo the highest address for a 5-channel unit is 127 As I've currently got the datasheet in front of me, here's a summary of the rest of the information for anyone who searches in the future: Auto ChangeSet all dip switches to 'off'. For sound-to-light control, set the little black switch to 'Music'. For variable speed control, set it to 'Auto' Manual ModeFor Manual mode, set dips 7 and 8 to 'On', and the following will apply: Dip 1- Red 25%Dip 2- Red 50%Dip 1 & 2- Red 100% Dip 3- Green 25%Dip 4- Green 50%Dip 3 & 4- Green 100% Dip 5- Blue 25%Dip 6- Blue 50%Dip 5 & 6- Blue 100% AutoFadeFor Autofade mode, set dip switch 7 to 'off', and 8 to 'on'. Fade time can now be selected using a combination of the following (fade time will be a sum of the values):Dip 1- 2.5sDip 2- 5sDip 3- 10sDip 4- 20sDip 5- 40sDip 6- 80s Apparently, "If Dip switch 1 to 6 are set to OFF, the fade time for one pattern is 10:30 minutes", although I've never tried this! DMX ModeFor DMX mode, Dip switch 8 must be off, and at least one of the other 7 should be on.Setting dip switches 1-7 set the address via binary as normal. The highest address these units can be set to is 127 Function of DMX ChannelsChannel 10-63 RGB Control, CH2 = Red, Ch3 = Green, Ch4 = Blue64-127 7 Color Fade, Ch5=Speed Control128-191 7 Color Change, Ch5=Speed Control192-255 3 Color Change, Ch5=Speed Control Channel 20-255 Red, 0-100% Channel 30-255 Green, 0-100% Channel 40-255 Blue, 0-100% Channel 50-10 No Function (No speed)11-100 Fast Speed to Slow Speed101-150 No Function (No speed)151-255 Speed Control set by unit, either using Music or VAR (the black switch on the unit) Hope this becomes helpful to someone! phil dB
Here's a copy of the manual if you need nay more info: Linky Thomann do have most of the manuals on their site but only on the German language pages (even though the manual is usually in English) the easiest way to find them is to change the "gb" in the address to "de", then scroll down to the bottom of the page. They also have user feedback on the German language page too - just stick the German page address in Google translate.
