portytech Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Last night I was in to see Snow white and the Seven Dwarfs at HMT Aberdeen. At the end of act one there is a dragon which flies out over the audience. Does anyone here know how it was done?I'm thinking some sort of swinging cantilever as there did not seem to be any lines FOH. Thanks
paulears Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 think 4 wheels, and then what looks like a camera crane - big bucket on the back with weights long arm goes forward - some hefty people in full blacks and lots of smoke and lighting. They just make sure the lighting doesn't catch the arm. In some venues it means a couple of source 4s used as follows almost side on rather than out front, and lighting cues that cut the stage light that would reveal the operators as they move forward. The Twins tricks are always great to watch but actually simple. They do the same trick with Daleks and actors on the end too.
portytech Posted December 10, 2012 Author Posted December 10, 2012 oh, that sounds quite simple realy. I thought it would of been more complex than that.
Brian Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 ...I thought it would of been more complex than that. It's quite simple to describe. It's more complex to stop it ending up as a heap of bent metal.
kitlane Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Not exactly the same but similar and pretty cool. Q-Division
