Nicktaylor
I have a unit which sometimes takes a few attempts to start. I know it is not a hot restart capable unit but what sort of time is enough for it to cool enough? Its been trial and error so far. I am wondering if the ballast is bit tired and not giving enough kick to strike the lamp. I welcome any comments. It is great when it is running but a bit trying as a hire item! johnhuson
My gut instinct would be the igniter is on it's way out, however I don't have first hand knowledge of the Solo CSI range to be able to offer advice as to whether it's still an obtainable part. It should be reasonably straight forward to replace though assuming a replacement is available.
Nicktaylor
On starting it this morning, it seemed it was going to strt then stopped. listening to the side of the light there was a very quiet "buzz". After about five minutes it strted off its own accord!. Without taking it apart can some one say what the type of starter is. I assume it is the sort of igniter in a Mac, but the right rating of course!

Assuming it's a standard ballast / ignitor setup, the top one on this page is suitable for CSI 1000 lamp. http://www.dealec.co.uk/acatalog/erc_aza_asp_special_application_igntiors.html
Nicktaylor
I have now been able to look inside the unit. I believe it is the Mark 2 version with a Thorn G47077 pulse transformer. Of course I imagine the fault could be with any other component in the bottom tray!
