EFX 500

Hi,

 

I've got 2 Martin EFX500 fixtures both with different problems.

One has very poor output, barely visable.

One is showing error 701.

 

Any help is much appreciated.

from memory your electronic power supply is failing, this is due to a component fault on the mains power distribution board. I really cant remember what component,(might have been a thermal fuse) but I remember bridging it out and all worked well afterwards. Pig to repair as I recall, and best to take a photo of all the connections as there are so many to the main board.

Hi, The 701 you are seeing means this unit has a gobo error - it'll be the magnet on the gobo wheel has come off. They are alwas doing it. I done two this week.

 

The one with poor output, have you tried a different lamp in it or looked inside to make sure the unit isnt full of dust?

yes very well made chinese lights under the Martin brand name, I seriously doubt Martin had anything to do with the design of these lights as there are so many copies out there under different brand names.

There are loads of copies of the Martin Wizard, but I have not seen any in my travels of the EFX (or SCX) ranges.

Kind of going off on a tangent here, but oh well.

 

The ADJ Comm Scan does not look anything like the SCX range.

 

The last two you linked to have copied the casing design, but in terms of what they do, very different, as those are both FX/Moonflower type scanner effects, whilst the entire Martin SCX range was a proper scanner, with colours and gobo's.
