Old Fashioned School Desks

Dear all,

I am looking to find as many as 8 old fashioned school desks (with a flip-top) for a production early next year.

I understand these are pretty much antiques now so havn't found anywhere selling multiples of the same style of desk.

 

Hire may be an option, but I wanted to check if anyone who has used a similar prop before and could offer any advice for somewhere to buy/borrow from?

Er, I hate to state the obvious, but you have asked local schools? I know we had stacks of them kept under the stage in the hall, pulled out for exams. This was a few years ago, but it's worth a try at least...

We have 8 of these old style desks which we used for "Our House". PM me if you would like more details. We are based in Croydon and have hired them out in the past.

We hired a load of desks from a local school for our production of History Boys. These ones weren't flip-top, as that wouldn't have suited the production, but it's worth asking around the local schools.
