Envoy
Hello everyone, I'm thinking of investing in an LED display sometime down the road.My question is: Should I Look towards an LED curtain instead of a panel? Reasons: flexibility, portability and of course, PRICE. Any suggestions from LED technicians will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Ian H
Unless you have one of the Two winning tickets in yesterdays Lottery win....I would advise against investing in LED technology....New products are appearing almost daily, All the major players have LED available to rent in FL and the rates available are very competitive... Ian --- LED tech -- currently in MIA.... PM for more info....
jason5d
We really like led curtains, they are light weight and see thru. What do want to use it for? we like to split up the panels at concerts and put moving lights behind them and sync videowith the beams to make the video come out of the screen. If u have the customers then of course invest, if not hire.

AV Technician
I agree with Ian and Jason but to add my knowledge; If you do want to buy some LED Screens, buying a panel or curtain product has these arguments ; Quality of Image - Most curtain products are above 15mm Pitch (to allow for some space to see through) Images on a screen with this pitch has a greater minimum viewing distance, great for concerts and large events but not so great for conferences or small events where the audience will be close to the screen.Black levels - There is a very small amount of "Black" levels on a curtain due to the missing areas.Weight - Curtain products are a lot lighter than panel products therefore cheaper transport costs, also less labour is needed.I am sure there are more For's and against to be discussed but those points give you an idea of things to think about. If you did buy a curtain product, you could always put some black cloth behind it to increase the blacks or mask the area behind it if needs be. I am sure you have had a look at some products to buy already, there are the most popular brands that some high profile events always request using and wont use any other and those tend to be Lighthouse and Toshiba to name a couple. However if your clients arent going to want a specific brand there are some good quality screens, both curtain and panel products that are made in the same factories as the big brands and most have some simularities and have even had some input by the designers of the big brand items but wont necessarily have quite the same quality. it all depends on requirements and of corse budget. If you would like to discuss anything else further, please PM me, I would be happy to help. Graham Shearing LED Screens/AV Freelancer
