JoshE Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Hi, I am wanting to re-commission some old Strand Quartet 22/40's (Mk. 1) into service at work.My trouble is that I am missing shutters. Obviously spares for be hard to find considering the light is over 15 years old, I have looked around on the web (eBay, Usedlighting, Stage Electrics, etc) and I can find absolutely nothing.I have tried fitting Cantata shutters but I believe they can only fit into Quartet Mk.2's. Does anyone know anywhere they can recommend trying or that stock anything like this or even drawings they can give me so I can make some up out of sheet metal. Any help is appreciated. Cheers,Josh

Cheers,Josh +1 for Jim Lawes, but also keep trying eBay - I see Quartet shutters appear sproradically. Or, thinking out of the box, get a metal working company to copy a working one and manufacture new ones?
JoshE Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 I'm looking for 16. I've tried Usedlighting but will try Jim Lawes tomorrow. If someone could provide me with drawings of the shutter I can get a sheet metal worker to make some up for me. Cheers.
CARWYN Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Try using strand prelude shutters I think they are the same size.
TomHoward Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 I have 8 spare-ish shutters from 22/40s but they are off the latest lantern - the Phillips branded one. Not sure if they are the same but I could lend you a set to copy if it helps
J Pearce Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Strand prelude shutters are a different shape, but fit and work. It memory recalls they are shallower so can't go quite as small, but are fine for shutter 'tidying'.
JoshE Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 Tried Usedlighting, they have none in stock and I will try Jim Lawes Lighting. TomHoward, would it be possible to send drawings of one of your spares to me? That way I can get a metal worker to make some up for me. Any help is appreciated.Josh.
Wingwalker Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 If you leave a message on the Strand Archive forum you may get a slightly better chance of getting some that have been stored in someones garden shed for a few years. David.

David. Given that I've seen complete, working quartet profiles come up on ebay fairly recently, it may be worth buying one just to copy the shutters from.
