electric blackouts

Hello

Does anyone know of any good suppliers of permanently installed electric window blackouts? I am looking for a very clever solution for a tricky space, I thought they would be easy to find on google but I've struggled so far!

Thanks

Not sure, venue is an old chapel, needs to have a very good blackout but also to be able to get natural light for daylight events. I want to try to avoid having to have a big box around the windows on the inside to act as a channel, but this might be the only option!

Had to blackout a church once or twice and the pointy window bays cause most problems. There has to be some form of proprietary system available but it will be expensive and intrusive if you have these windows and/or thick walls to deal with.

Most former church spaces tend to have permanent solutions and what you are looking for is a perfect compromise which may not exist. What about some form of B/O on the outside like security shutters which can be electrically powered or manually operated? My link

How quickly do you need to turn the venue around from blacked-out to natural "daytime" state? And how often does it happen?

I have seen some ingenious solutions for large churches, but they took time and quite a bit of effort to deploy - fine for a monthly event that needs the blackout, but not if you are having to swap between the two states multiple times a day.

Hello

Thanks for the ideas, external is not really an option as the building is grade 2 listed and one side of it is in a very public place. In terms of time, this is something we can look at so slow/fiddly ideas may not be out of the question - it will be a case of weighing up the pros and cons of each option. If you know of any specific churches it would be good to take a look.

Thanks

If, like ours, your church is Grade 2 then I would be surprised if they allowed internal fixed, motorised blinds. Anything attached to the fabric of the building needs permission and it takes time and negotiation.

Check this out before going too far down the research road as we have been frustrated beyond reason by last minute No-Noes.

In the case of a temporary B/O in a church we made inner frames for each window and wedged them into place when required. That was a Grade 2 listed and working church. My link

Get in contact with Stationers Hall, Ave maria Lane in London.

They have manual blackouts on the inside and have Blacked out the pointy bit at the top of the window permanently.

I can't t remember the name of the guy you need to speak to, but he's the hall manager......come to think of it, his name is Ron.......he should be able to shed some light on where they got then from
