jexjexjex
...am I just as easy to get my local machine shop/blacksmith to make them? Also, if it's the latter, does anyone have a set of sizes and material spec I could poach? I'm sure that this was spoken about in a previous thread, but I've done a quick Blue Room Google and can't find anything. I'll do a full Google later, or maybe it was posted in the other place. :) Ho, hum... Ethier way, all ideas gratefully appreciated.
Martin
Im sure you can get these from the usual Strand suppliers, but it may be cheaper to get your local shop to make them up. The replacement yokes for our Strand Iris4's were quite pricey. If you do go with the latter option, you could get them to make up proper full yokes that link both sides of the unit with some kind of box steel. This makes them much stronger and also gives you the option to suspend the coda's from 1 or 2 hook clamps, thus giving you pan if you need it. jexjexjex
Thanks Martin, but I think I need to rephrase my question and make it clearer. What I actually need is/are metal bars to join the two existing yoke arms together, bolted together via the existing bolts. I'm needing a material spec./description so that I don't sound like a complete numpty whan I walk into my engineersl machine shop. Apologies for any confusion, brain has now been re-engaged! slim_mcslim
best thing to do is to take the unit with you, and point and tell them what you want to join to what and where you want holes for hook clamps/existing bolt, but I am sure a 3mm mild steel plate would do the job, and ideally you want to get the finished items black stove enamalled as it is tougher than powder coating, or you could take them as raw steel finish and then paint them with black hammerite (be warned that the steel may come back covered in oil (stops it rusting) so you will need to clean it with a de-greaser before painiting. regards paul... robloxley
We used roughly half by one & half inch box section painted with black Hammerite iirc, would recommend this for all coda 3s & 4s to stop people lifting them by one yoke only & deforming the side panels! If you've a sharp hacksaw & a pillar drill it's not to hard to make them yourself.
