I think the OP might be meaning something to control switched hot power. A lot of theatre installations have DMX-controlled switched hot power referred to as a 'non-dim', in which case I'd just patch a dimmer and usually anything 50% and above will turn the circuit on.

You can set dimmer curve to square, which is the same as the generic switch fixture has programmed in it. I've not tried it connected to lights - and the display shows the usual variable level, but worth a quick try if you're on a system with lights!
