richard
Hello I haven't yet managed to get hold of a copy of BS9999 (as it is £206 on their website) but I've been asked about the requirement for a smoke vent over an open stage of at least 10% of the stage size, does anyone know any detail on this, and whether there are exceptions for smaller theatres/conversions? Thanks Richard
Giles Favell
1349873250[/url]' post='454089']Hello I haven't yet managed to get hold of a copy of BS9999 (as it is £206 on their website) but I've been asked about the requirement for a smoke vent over an open stage of at least 10% of the stage size, does anyone know any detail on this, and whether there are exceptions for smaller theatres/conversions? Thanks Richard There IS a requirement, under BS9999 for either 10% or two or more powered ventilation, equivalent to the 10%, but no exceptions as such, except not to comply with the British Standard (2008). One would need to talk more to Fire Consultants and insurance.Sorry!

itiba
If you have a few hours spare one day then a trip to the British Library will allow you to view all the Standards on the computer system there.

J Pearce
Many local libraries have a similar subscription to BSOnline, though some standards are not on that system, the most notable being 7671.
AdrianLT
We recently discovered that the Property Services section of our council also have subscriptions for these types of publications and are fairly willing to help with reseach if it means public venues are safer.
