lxdave
Hi, I have just been told the following, and wondered if anyone could back it up and give me reasons etc?We do not offer Source 4's for followspots as they are not correctly balanced for this application and do not have the necessary handles or colour magazines - also the iris is not fully closing. There are also legal implications in offering equipment for a purpose for which it is not designed.
Bryson
Well, the Sale of Goods act says: Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale).SNIPAspects of quality include fitness for purpose, freedom from minor defects, appearance and finish, durability and safety. And an unmodified Source 4 is not designed to be used as a followspot, making it unfit for the purpose. There are products designed for modifying Source 4s, such as this. I suspect what they really mean (I assume this is from a hire company) is that they don't have a Source 4 adapted into a followspot, and don't want to subhire one, but hire you a "real" followspot instead. Brian
Pedantic point but, IIRC, the Sale of Goods Act doesn't apply to business to business transactions.
