J Pearce
And Martin have presets that are the same as ETC's palettes. Confused yet?
alistermorton
ETC presets are (effectively) a combination of palettes, in that a palette can only be colour, beam, focus etc but a preset can combine them into a "look".
indyld
Although, to be fair, most pro consoles will allow you to do that same thing in palettes, by changing from the default attribute mask. The other desks don't use a distinct name for it or really encourage doing that, due to the design of workflow. In that situation, I am happy with nested palettes and linked copy cues etc.
alistermorton
It's really a naming and implementation thing - the concepts are the same.
Just Some Bloke
ETC [snip] palette can only be colour, beam, focus etc [snip] ... except for an "all palette" which records all LTP parameters: colour, beamshape and focus.
alistermorton
Must admit I hadn't come across the "all palette" on the Ion (I was under the distinct impression that the Eos software required you to create a preset if you wan to combine the different LTP types). Can you point me to somewhere in the manual where I can look them up? It could be useful to know about the alternatives.
Just Some Bloke
The Congo certainly has "all palettes" (the buttons just say "Focus", "Colour", "Beam", "Palette", the latter being "all palettes") and without an EOS or ION in front of me I'm struggling to remember if they do them too. I'm sure Richard at ETC will fill us in when he reads this!
alistermorton
Having just downloaded the manual, "all palette" appears to be a Congo/Cobalt term, which is different to the way eos refers to palettes and presets. I've never touched a congo/cobalt, which probably explains why I've never come across "all palettes" http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif
