sam.henderson
Hiya All, Has anyone heard about this? I read in 'The Week' that on the 1st of March in the interval of Saturday Night Fever the cast will be performing 'Live Adverts'. People already signed up include Heinz and a few others I can't remember. Do people have any views on this?? Good Idea? Bad Idea? Is theatre slowly being turned into cinema/ tv?? Could you care less?? Just interested to know what people thought. Sam
Stu
I don't personally see it to be a bad thing, you get adverts when you go to the cinema, so it'll be pretty much the same here I would have thought. Are they doing them in the interval? If so, use it as an excuse to go the bar (not like you'd need one!) or be safe in the knowledge that they can't do it for the whole interview as they'd have to show the iron at some point... sam.henderson
I share the same view as you Stu, It doesn't really make any odds to the crew unless they want sound/ lx to go with it. If so then does this mean that crew will find themselves programming/ designing lx each week for the interval?? If so is it likely that pay will reflect this new work load?? Probably not! My local big receiving house (that I occasionally do shows in) currently promotes shows that are coming to the venue in the interval by projecting adverts onto the iron. I think that is quite a good idea! Sam
SparkySteve
I think the optimist in me thinks this is a very good idea and could plough the much needed funds into theatre, but then the cynic in me is starting to think ITV Digital and lower division football... what if it goes tits up?, will it land theatre in the poo poo?? timpman19
I don't think its a great idea personally. yeah ok it would bring much needed money in but I just don't think the audience would have a clue as to whats going on pluss most of them are in the bar at the interval anyway only my view however josh

sam.henderson
No I didn't know that, when I thought it was some type of trial to see how it worked and if it would be continued (thats what a friend told me!). If its for charity then its got to be a good thing! Sam
