nickjb
I'm playing with a Chauvet Hemisphere 5 and the manual talks about 5 channel control with the 5th channel being a fader. Mine only seems to have 4 channels. Are there different models, a 4 channel and 5 channel, or is there some secret way of activating the 5th channel? p.k.roberts
I'm playing with a Chauvet Hemisphere 5 and the manual talks about 5 channel control with the 5th channel being a fader. Mine only seems to have 4 channels. Are there different models, a 4 channel and 5 channel, or is there some secret way of activating the 5th channel? I haven't used the product, but the manual says that channel 5 only acts as a dimmer if channel 1 is set for DMX values between 10 and 199 (i.e. on one of the fixed-colour settings); with channel 1 below DMX 10, the unit is in blackout mode and above DMX 199 it is in auto or sound operated modes, the implication being that the unit is not responsive to the dimmer channel with channel 1 in these ranges. nickjb
Thanks for the reply. I read that and tried adjusting channel 1 but it made no difference. The fact that light is coming out at all implies the dimmer channel isn't active as it would be set at DMX 0 by default. I'm leaning towards it being ae feature that got cut after the manual was written, but hoping there's a secret code somewhere. Interestingly my usb DMX controller only has the Hemisphere in 4 channel mode as a pre-programmed option.
jono9691
Hi, Try running it with desk channels to see what its doing.
nickjb
I've tried that and the 5th channel does nothing. Channel 1 works fine, ie. it lights up, so if there is a dimmer it's on max. Most places that sell the hemisphere list it as a 4 channel unit. It's just the Chauvet website and the manual that mention the (mythical?) 5th channel. Sam bowden
Hi nick, I believe the manual you have there pertains to the hemisphere 5.1. One of the more common questions we recieved with the hemisphere 5 was 'can I make it dim' as such we decided that this was a feature we needed to add on the new addition. Unfortunately however the manual for the unit was produced before the unit and I think a few rogue manuals got into the older units. I'm not sure how this happened. So in short the answer to your question is I'm afraid it is unlikely the unit you have there will have a dimming channel. Im very sorry I couldn't give you better news about this, but thank you for using Chauvet if you have any other technical issues please feel free to contact us at: uktech@chauvetlighting.com Thanks again.
