We had IPix BB4s on the ribs, new iPix Iine 6 made into custom fan blinders on the ends of the ribs. Onstage movers were Clay Paky Alpha Spot QWO 800's, Sharpys, Beam 1500s and Alpha Wash 700s. Philips Colour reaches on the roof lighting the angel. In the house we had synchrolite 7XLs, Beam 700 and 1500s. The LEDs behind were Thomas Smart Line 4's...

There were also some AlphaWash 1500 on the palace Facade too for completeness.

hardest part was stopping people nicking the Sharpys! ;)

The Union Jack is the shortened name for is the jack staff on a boat from which the Union Flag is flown.

You're entirely wrong. The union jack / union flag thing is mythical and is nothing to do with boats.

Both wrong, I'm afraid - there are 2 different flags. The Union Flag is our national flag. The Union Jack is the same flag, but with a white border, and is the version flown by the navy, on a jackstaff, at the front of a ship. There's nothing mythical about this, but the 2 are very widely confused, not least on Google.

I really hate to do this; but the "Union Jack...with a white border" is not the Union Jack; it's the White Engisn, used by the Royal Navy. The RN also uses the plain Union Flag in its jackstaff position at the bow of a ship, and when the Union Flag is flying from the jackstaff, it's known as the Union Jack. But to end all debate, the Flag Institute has this to say:

"It is often stated that the Union Flag should only be described as the Union Jack when flown in the bows of a warship, but this is a relatively recent idea. From early in its life the Admiralty itself frequently referred to the flag as the Union Jack, whatever its use, and in 1902 an Admiralty Circular announced that Their Lordships had decided that either name could be used officially. Such use was given Parliamentary approval in 1908 when it was stated that "the Union Jack should be regarded as the National flag"."

So yes, while technically they are Union Flags on the Sharpys, no-one will cart you off to the Tower for calling it a Union Jack!

To jump back on topic; I like the idea of the Union Flag on the casing, but would have preferred it to be a simple design; just the plain straight-lined flag, not a wavy flag.

Think I've found the 4- light ipix strips they has running on the long arms of stage ceiling, not sure what their flood units that were pointing at the crowd were. And was it all led movers? Liked the led strips behind madness too

The 4 cells, along the arms, were BB4s and the LED Battens at the ends of the fingers pointing at the crowd, were the new IPIX iline 600 and I believe behind madness they were the Ipix I-Line 1200

There were no LED Movers, they were a mixture of alpha spot QWO 800s, alpha wash 700, alpha beam 700, alpha beam 1500, alpha wash 1500, and sharpys

And that has what to do with the original question?

Whilst the question has been answered, I'll just add, that a spray paint gun is easy to use, and it's easy to paint a moving head into whatever you want it to be. Anyone that want's to pimp their movers, just hire an artist that is good with spray paint.

I wonder why nobody has thought to produce a sleeve, like mobile phone sleeves - get them produced in China in a colours and patterns for the popular brands. Just a two piece - forget the yoke, so just a top and bottom. With movers costing lots, having a clip on, cheap (by comparison with spraying) cover could be a good move!

No, it's not - the white ensign is a white flag with the cross of St George and the union flag in one corner, and and is flown from the rear of the ship, by the Royal Navy and the members of the Royal Yacht Squadron.
