Ynot
I've posted an enquiry on the RJ web site tech support, but will try here as well. I'm looking for assistance with a Marius follow spot. It looks like one of the dimming shutters is out of synch with the other 3 and when fully closed is allowing a small crescent of light through on the outer edge. It may be that it's somehow been forced, though I can't see why that would only affect one blade. The effect is plain looking at the blades from the lamp house end, as the white spot from the lamp heat matches up on all but the 4th one.I can't, however, see any way of adjusting the blade as such - I've tried loosening the 3 screw on the pivot point, but that a) doesn't seem to be offset, and b) doesn't appear to have any adjustment that I can tell.. So - any suggestions please??We have a show in this week, til Saturday, so if possible I would like to try to sort the problem. As usual, comments please only from those who have a definite input - no ifs, buts & maybes from those who've never seen the inside of a F/S...Thanks
jonathanhill
Do you still have the black-out plate/colour template for the spots to put in the colour magazine as a last fix?
mark_s
Forgive my non-qualified input, but if you give White Light's Service Dept. a call, they might be able to help you out. As the exclusive UK distributor for Robert Juliat (assuming nothing has changed since I last checked) they know quite a lot about RJ kit, and they probably have a vested interest in keeping users of it happy. They're also very friendly people :)
Ynot
CheersWill give them a try tomorrow. If you're judicious with closing the dimmer and don't go too far, the blackout is fine, so there's a temporary 'fix' for now.
gyro_gearloose
We've got a pair of Marius's and one of ours has a problem similar to yours. Light leaks past the dimmer when its fully closed, but I've found that if the dimmer is opened very very slightly then the leak stops. The dimming module isn't particularly sophisticated and you could easily fix it yourself with judicious use of pliers and/or a hammer. :)
