Vector effect bug

Hi all,

I've got a very anoying (ugly) problem with my Compulite Vector Green

When I got an effect (example Pan) running on whatever type of fixture (in this example Robe Robin 300)

and I put the library fade time to anything else than 0.01 Sec.

and then I change anything ( example Color from L195 to L104)

then the fixture is "jumping" to another percentage (pan) in the same effect.

So it almost looks like the effect is starting again.

Does anyone else has this anoying problem, and know what to do to prevent this ??

Thx in advance

Bas

  • 2 weeks later...

Never seen it in any form across the whole platform. Try using a slightly different LIB TIME or is it evident with every timing?

I'll be honest - your better speaking to Compulite support about active bugs because it really depends on the desk and version and some other things like installed stuff, firmware etc.

It may be no bug at all and a problem with the library. Try the Robin in a different mode or patch it as dimmers and try that. That will decide profile error vs bug.

Thanks.

Hi Joe,

I found a 'cure' for my problem, not that handy but it works.

If your working in "live" than you can do your effects in editor 1 (ex) en than switch to editor 2 en then you can change your colours (example) in whatever lib time you want without having teh problem.

I know it is not an easy thing but it works.

And yes its with every timing except 0.01 Sec. and it's not a problem from Robe ( ive tested it also with a Mac 250 and the problem is still there)

Jehhh Compulite ..... they dont react very fast to my mails ( 6 weeks) so I thought I tried it here.

Thx

Bas

Gotcha. You could make 2 Macros to streamline the switching between editors and times. One macro to switch to editor number 2 and change the time then another to change the editor back to 1 and the time to whatever. This can then be stuck on the 101-106 hard keys in the corner or attached to cues, fired on the command line etc.

Possible alternative to using LIB TIME full stop.... store your palettes as normal... Make a page with all your palettes with no timing information in then make a page for each timing increment you want just copying the palettes from the first page to the additional pages and merging in whatever timing values you like. Or have a misunderstood and you are already using timing values in the palettes and not "live" in a busking scenario? The good thing about the Vector... there is so much stuff in there, if you don't like something you can change it and there is almost always another way of doing XYZ.

Thanks.

P.S. does the bug appear in all modes and all syntaxes?

Anybody else a sollution

Thx,

Hi Joe,

Yeah the macro I'm already using.

And about the dubble palettes pages is a good one , I'm gonna try it later.

Did a little investigating and it does seem to be a bug to do with palette (library) times in general. Downgrade a version and see if it still exists. And if it does ring Compulite and speak to support and see if they are aware of its existence. Don't email, phone as this bug is kind of serious - in Vector world anyway! ;)

Thanks.

Hi Joe,

Allready downgrade a version and it still exists. So thats not the solution (grrrr). Yeah I'm gonna contact Compulite next week to find out if they know of the bug. And yes its a very serious problem, not only in Vector world, I mean ..... the whole world depends on it ;-)

Thx,
