Hi All

I am wondering if you of you guys can suggest a good quality speaker cable in 2 and 4 core 2.5mm? I know Van Damme cable is quite good but is there something that is as good that is cheaper without the extra cost? Any suggestions would be great appreciated.

Regards

Thanks for that suggestion will make a note.

Any other suggestions are more than welcome.

I like the Kelsey / ATM stuff. 4x2.5 is very flexible, easy to handle and terminate.

Studiospares sells a 4x2.5mm2 multi-strand cable for £1.57/m + VAT which is perfectly serviceable.

I just use normal twin and earth and double up on the negative. Works a treat!

That was just a joke by the way.

I use a good quality H07 RNF, is very flexible and coils really well. It also sits on the floor nicely.

I buy it from a local company (to me) called Tratos Link Good pricing and friendly service no matter how small the order.

Sorry for the joke but I'm sure it's been done.

funny to see this thread today, I need 8x 1metre speakon to tails today (too lazy to make my own)

I use CPC/One Call in the uk for my bits and peices....

the expensive ones were all out of stock so I have taken a chance on some non brand 2.5mm wire...

By choice I would have gone for the clotz cable but I am hoping the generic 2.5mm cable will not damage my bose amps :)

well, I know they won't damage, and I truly believe you get what you pay for, but 2.5mm cable is 2.5mm cable, as long as the screws and binding posts are done up tight.

<_<

It is true you get what you pay for and I agree you probably won't tell a difference in the sound but with cable in this game, it's more than just about the cable size and how tight your screws are.

Rubber or PVC coatings and how well the cable is made add a lot to the overall experience when you consider coiling the cables at the end of a gig or taping them down before an event.

That said 1m cables aren’t going to cause you much trouble in that department.

in my case its just from the bottom of the amp rack up to the speaker patchbay so yeah, maybe I am lucky.

had I have to run 100 meters round the back of the u/s sub bass then I would have insisted on clotz :(

Klotz, Van Damme are all good cables never used Cordial so can't comment - I have used the CPC OFC stuff it's OK not to good with heat when soldering in comparison with Klotz, Van Damme as the insulation melts back but if you are quick you will be OK. I did have some cable without a branding on and it was great just wish the supplier hadn't ran out and no longer stocks it anymore. Any more suggestion? Thanks for all your replies.
