Customizing Sony VCT-80 av tripod remote

First of all I would like to say "Hi" to everyone here on the forums. I am a newbie in need of some assistance. I am a free lance videographer that shoots mostly youth/high school football and basketball. I do not have professional equipment just standard definition Sony Handycams purchased off of the shelf at Best Buy. I have a Sony VCT-80 av tripod with the built in remote which I love and makes my life alot easier. I want to modify the remote so I can run up to 3 cameras from the same remote? The only functions that I would need for the 2nd and 3rd camera would be the record/stop record since I need those for the tight views that the coaches are requesting. I have been operating 2 cameras at once but I know this will really help me.

I know that it can be done because there is a company that sells custom tripods that have the ability to run 2 cameras from a single remote. It comes with Remote Tripod with Custom Remote Handle and Electronic Interface Module but I just do not have the money to purchase it for the price they are asking. I will appreciate any help that you guys/gals can provide me with. I have coaches that depend on me which I always deliver but I want to make my life a little easier. Thanks!!

10pin D uses LanC protocol it' just has a different (worse) connector.

I'd suggest that you get a couple of cheap LanC remotes (ebay) and some converter cables (eg http://www.cameragrip.co.uk/acatalog/info_586.html )

this will be simpler and better than hacking your tripod apart, trying to filer out the start stop commands from the LanC and distributing them to the remote cameras without sending the zoom commands that you want to send to the camera on the tripod.

Thanks for the info but I do not know how to do this and will this allow me to control multiple cameras from single tripod remote?

it's won't - what you want to do is impossible to achieve without some serious outlay and programming.

what I suggest is an alternative approach where by you have one remote per camera. - you can position al the remotes on your tripod and thus be able to easily control each camer without having to move.
