Ross
Hi All,I'm looking to hire a long wheel base transit in Glasgow but it needs to have a tow bar. I am struggling to find a company that has one available. Any suggestions? Thanks,Ross Edit: I should have included why I thought this forum appropriate - I'm moving a bunch of sound gear for an event and value the combined knowledge of the Blue Room family - lots of whom shift stuff around in vans. I haven't just stumbled on here and ignored the spirit of the place!
themadhippy
Be aware of the rules concerning tachos (not the mexican food stupid) and trailers when used for buissness purposes

Jivemaster
As a guess the LWB transit with trailer will make for difficult compliance with vehicle and driving regs -so hirers may not offer them for a reason.
Pete McCrea
The bit people have alluded to is that once the train weight hits over 3.5t, and your using it for commercial purposes, then you need to drive on a tacho ( "In Scope") - so add a trailer to a sprinter, and you need a tacho. You'll then need to comply with drivers hours regs, working time directive etc. If you get pulled by VOSA, they explained that they'd expect you to have a diary detailing all out of scope work so they can ensure your compliance with WTD etc. assuming its done on a digicard, then you need to keep that with you. It is a massive catering pack sized can of worms. To that end it wouldn't surprise me of the hire companies don't put tow bars on their vans for that reason. It isn't a simple as people think to just hitch a trailer and drive 7t of kit in van and trailer to site, so be careful.
