Llight shaping filter

The filter you're looking at is likely similiar to 228 Brushed Silk by Lee.

Silk changes the diffusion pattern such that it's wider/longer in one axis, opposite axis to the way the lines run through the silk filter.

I.e if the lines in the in the silk run left to right then the beam will spread top to bottom.

Take a look at the Lee website to find a dealer near you.

Have a look at the Lee filters, note the losses when you use a frost. Lee 228 Brushed Silk has one of the best stretching effects so will help you stretch the cells and merge them together, but will not help you get that even light intensity from top to bottom, as it still has a peak in the centre.

Do a search on Blue Room for Frost Filters for other ideas.

ETC make a range of these for use with the Selador range - they call them holographic diffusers - available in a number of different angles, they worth with any fixture (not just the Selador) and have around a 95% transmission (as opposed to a frost which is typically lower)

I could be wrong but I believe these are made by Luminit (if they're not, they make something very similar)

A quick, easy and cheap way that I found works quite nicely on our bars is a florescent tube diffuser. Cut to size and taped to the front of our LED Bars spreads the output almost 180 degrees, admittedly at the expense of some light output, but not massively so.

Might work for you, its certainly worth a try.

Ours are made from a lined diffuser. Originally tried a triangle/dimple one which also worked well, I wasn't able to get any of those cheap/local so went with the others.

From memory there wasn't much of a difference between them.
