tilt problem

Hi All,

I have a bunch (4) of iSpot 150 by Coemar at the club where I work, and one of them is having the strangest issue with the tilt encoder. It started out getting stuck in the 0 position, and after physically moving the head to about halfway, it would start to work properly. No error messages either before or after. To me it seemed that the motor might have been gummed up; sometimes after a while metallic magnetic dust accumulates inside the motor, so I removed it and took it apart to clean the dust out, as I often do. The motor was remarkably very clean inside, barely any dust. FYI, I usually use a combination of alcohol and pressurized air to clean the motors. Works great. Put it all back together and it started having an OTER error, so I checked the encoder (which I had also just blown clean) and the connections, and it all looks great. However, the head sometimes has trouble moving to certain positions; it stutters, and sometimes overshoots and then corrects itself. I took the covers off today and checked everything again, and ran it perfectly with the covers off. I put one half (the deep half) of the clamshell back on, and the error appeared again. I reset the fixture, and it seemed to go away, but as soon as I started running a cue, it reappeared, and the fixture seems to be stuck aimed high on the wall. (The fixture is hung upside down, just so you know.) Any ideas?

Thanks,

Upon Closer inspection, I found that the encoder wheel set screws were not as tight as I thought they were, and the cover was just barely touching the wheel, and I think that is what was causing the problem. Thanks for your inspiration!
