EVL lighting

Hi

Ive recently purchased a few 2nd hand EVL mini-spot 250 moving head lights.

Im in the process of cleaning them up and giving them a mini service.

I have a few questions if I may.

1) Apart from cleaning the lenses etc what else can I do ( clean or lube) to help maintain these fixtures?

2) Do you know any companies that are supporting the EVL earlier products any more , I called EVL and they told me nobody works there anymore that has ANY knowelege of these fixtures. Now Im only assuming that EVL had these units built in China somewhere and simply rebadged them when importing them. Its pretty bad that a company can`t or won`t offer support to fixtures that are only 6 years old?

Is this normal for cheaper products like this ? I only paid peanuts for them so am not too fussed. It would have been nice to know support & spares were available if needed though.

They look reasonably made and robust - Has ayone got an opinion on EVL stuff , good or bad !

Matt

Iv just been told that they are very similar to the American DJ MiniSpot 300`s ?

EVL used to be Mad lighting which made its own products, before that company went bust.

A couple of the current products are their own design, but most are just imported and rebadged. So it's difficult to have an opinion on "EVL stuff" because it just depends what they are importing at the time.

I hope that your "support" experiences will help you draw your own opinion.
