Using speed attributes on Avolites Pearl Expert

I'm trying to use the 'BO with C' speed attribute on a Robe 575 to black it out whenever it changes colour during a chase. I tried programming it on the pearl expert simulator (titan V5) and capture polar as a 'record by fixture' chase with the 'BO with C' attribute selected on all the Robe's involved. However when I run the chase there's no dimming and you can clearly see the fixtures changing gels. Is this the correct way to program this, could it be a limitation of the visualiser?

I also see in the Robe manual (page 12) for the speed attributes it says "To activate following functions, stop in DMX value for at least 3 s and shutter must be closed at least 3 s. („Shutter, Strobe" channel 25 (18, 27, 20) must be at range: 0-31 DMX)". Does this mean they can't process any DMX to 3secs before running the chase? This seems pretty inconvenient.

It is almost certainly not simulated although this is not the correct way to program it either.

The rules for activate are typical for control functions (such as lamp on/off & reset). They are a one-time activation that you usually execute before a performance. It is not normally something you program.

Because the rules are quite specific there are usually fixture macros written in the personality to do this for you. Unfortunately for this particular fixture they don't exist yet but I can write this for you if you want.

In the meantime the easiest way to do it manually is via the Attribute Editor workspace. Open this, select Shutter and choose Closed then select Control, click on BO w Col, wait at least 3s then click on 'Reserved' (the one above P/T Speed Mode, not the one below Lamp Off). That should do it although it might not be possible to know for sure without the actual fixture.

Note that you could record the above steps into a user macro as long as you enable the real time option to keep the timing.
