Dynacord PowerMate 1600 Smoke from the back!

Hi all,

I am new to this site and looking for some advice please.

I have a Dynacord PowerMate 1600 mixer. It was working fine until yesterday.

When I turned it on, there was signal input to the channels but no output sound apart from farting noises from the speakers ( Bose 802 connected to power amp with speakon to jack cable ).

Shortly after this smoke started to come out of the back grill.

Any advice would be of great help!

Thanks!

Output power transistors will have failed short circuit in (hopefully just) - one channel. This usually also causes the loss of a few small signal transistors and burns out the associated resistors, which is the source of the smoke.

This isn't a task for anyone who is not experienced with power amplifier repair ......
