Solstace
Hi everyone We have an iLive T80/iDR48 system that we're generally very happy with. Only gotcha creeping into day-to-day operations seems to be that the fans in the T80 console are getting noisier with age - this doesn't cause much grief in the venue as a whole (we're a church), but does mess with the heads and ears of the FOH engineers trying to run that last 1-2dB on quiet speech, which can often end up being below the FOH noise floor created by these fans. I have a support ticket open with A&H and I'm sure they'll come up trumps, but I wonder whether anyone else here has had success with replacing fans with quieter units - or even something silly and computer-inspired like water-cooling and the like? mervaka
do you mean a bearing noise?
Solstace
Possibly bearings - but really I'm just thinking about the general whine from small high-speed fans, which seems to have gotten noticeably louder over time. Our situation not helped by venue being generally quiet and the console being installed in a cabinet that inadvertently focusses the fan noise right at the FOH operator. I would rather deal with the noise at source than just try to control/absorb it later... And sure, I could just lube/replace the existing fans, but I'd rather replace with something known to be quieter but within size/current/airflow specs... mervaka
As you've said, I'm sure the guys answering the ticket will sort you out nicely. I can't say I've regarded fan noise from the consoles as a problem, but then I work in a much noisier environment.
