gordontech
Making up cables often is something that comes with the job. I must of made 30 cables up in the past few months and despite always buying even numbers and not making any genderbenders (I've checked) I always seem to end up with more female then male. This got me curious. Have a dig around your tool bag/spares box and tick the pole as Im curious if its a trend or its just me.

savage1
oddly enough I have 20 males and 25 females in the box. I suspect this is because I've made up jack adapers or y-splits or I've been repairing broken ones but when I order connectors I tend to get the same amount of each
laolu
It's nice to have a few more females around I buy them as I need them (the plugs), so I can't confirm any theories as to which outnumbers which. Hmmmm....
MarkPAman
I'm unsure if I'm meant to vote for what I use most, or what gets left in the box.... I'd say most repairs are to the female end. I guess that's the bit that the singers get hold of. On the other hand, I seem to always need to be making up TRS - XLR Male leads for aux outputs from desks, so that sort of evens things up. My (probably faulty) logic says that splitters are proper lead, combiners are not, so we should use more male than female overall when making new stuff. timd
My (probably faulty) logic says that splitters are proper lead, combiners are not, so we should use more male than female overall when making new stuff. Perfectly good logic. Input impedances on modern kit are high enough that the voltages present remain the same regardless of having one source feed 1 or 10 of them. Driving two inputs into each other can have unexpected and possibly destructive results, so combiners without a proper mixdown resistor network are unacceptable. Bobbsy
No matter how carefully I order, I always seem to end up one or two short and have to recycle from the "to be fixed" pile of cables. Maybe you guys with extras have my XLRs?
tolley1466
I actually have, and apear to be the only one, more males than females! All the females usually get used up for useful adptors that I've needed...

RichM
I tend to find that I always have plenty of everything other than the type I actually need at the time http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/mad.gifhttp://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif
