Aevans
Hello all, In a recent comittee meeting for our local ADS, the idea of us owning a 'Smoke Machine' became a big deal.. dont ask why this is, but they had a fundraiser - to raise £400.. Got most of it, then the rest will be funded from the comittee. I wouldn't have made such a big deal to be honest - logically would be happy with a little smoker that holds a litre of fluid and maybe DMX.. But its what they want thats concerning me. Anybody know of a good Haze/Fogger, that is *maybe* on DMX does a fair enough job and is £400. Before I blow my hat off and buy a £130 one with the intention 'look - £130, this does the job - stuff the other £270 - need it for other things!' Thanks in advance ;)
gareth
I've never come across one machine that does a good job of performing a dual fogger/hazer function. If you want a decent water-based hazer that's DMX controllable and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, you could do a great deal worse than look at the Unique from Look Solutions - top-notch bit of kit, that. For a smoke machine, well, there's so much out there to choose from! Stick with the big names (Jem, LeMaitre, etc.) and you won't go far wrong. Jivemaster
Cheap disco smokers start at £25 but have a heat-cool cycle controlled by a bi-metalic switch. On the heat cycle ( 1 - 2 mins ) they will not fire smoke, - less than helpfull as a cue approaches!! Check that your intended machine is 100% duty cycle after initial warm up. vinny baby
if ya want a hazer/fogger and DMX I would go for the Chauvet Ultimate haze, is both a hazer and a fogger, so you have controll over the fan rate, and output. It is also DMX512. they retail for around £150 but ive seen them cheaper, does a decent job and is quite powerfull, it can also be used as a hazer when you reduce the output and turn the fan to full. It has a built in 2.5ltr fluid tank, and a hanging yoke! I have two of these machines now that I use for spares, (in cases the neutron breaks down) and they are good, for a budget you could actully aford to buy 2 machines, for around the £260 mark. as seen here. vince
peter
Vince, how do the Chauvet units compare in noise level with a TechnoHaze or a Unique? Also, are they fluid hungry? The 2.5litre tank would suggest so.

The 2.5litre tank would suggest so. not much in it really, in haze mode its very quiet. when your blasting it at full (fog mode) its a little more noisy but nothing like some of the machines I have heard. yeah its got a 2.5ltr fluid tank, but so does the neutron, and will all know how economic that is! in fairness the chauvet is really good on fluid. But again depends on what output you use it at, in haze mode its very economic. Ive also noticed that different fluids are more economic than others. What ever you do dont use neutron fluid in the chauvet, it creates a wet mess. vince
Andyb
My choice is a Unique from Look. We have 3 in hire and they have never fallen over or had any problems at all. Makes a pleasant change to the Neutron Stars that have not been out the door since we got the Unique's. Happy shopping.
