Hello

I'm putting together a pa on a nano budget. I want everything! Hifi, crystal vocals, reggae bass, punchy kicks, high spl, low distortion, light weight (only me). I will be doing small/medium venues and festival tents, for 8+ piece bands and DJs. My budget for FOH speakers & amps is over at £2000, but it looks like I might have to push £3000. Second hand is fine. I have been looking at Nexo PS10s but plus active subs. I probably can't aford Nexo subs as well. Any advice on which subs or full pa I should go for, would be much appreciated?

Cheers

Hi There.

I am a big Nexo Man own some PS, RS and GEO gear. You are dealing with a touring quality PA, and by that I mean proffessional touring quality sound, not pub/club quality. The PS10's are an awsome speaker for the size, but you need to have either the dedicated Nexo controller or NX Amplified Controller to really get the sound from them, or any Nexo gear. When putting it all together, the price mounts up quickly as I'm sure you are aware. I am a Nexo dealer in theory as I install their gear and would be happy to help with system designs. You could use a PS10 with a seperate companies active sub, eg. RCF ART 705AS or the DB Technologies active 15" sub or something similar, but you would still need a controller and amplifier for the PS10's

But bearing in mind your budget, may be worth looking for a second hand HK active system, or even considering the QSC active K2 gear, or maybe even RCF. Just some ideas - hope they help.

Hi Ralph,

Thanks for the advise. I will continue to look. Definitely gona be all second hand!

are you selling a JBL/Meyer rig on ebay? If so, I was already watching this. I am interested in coming to hear it and maybe have a chat about other possible rigs. When I said festival tents, I also mean small outdoor stages and would require a bit of wellie. Let me know.

Yes, that is my rig on ebay, just making room for some more Nexo. Will be very sorry to see Meyers go though, the sound from that system is stunning. Let me know if you want to hear it. I have done several mini 500 people festivals, both outside and in marquees with it, no problem at all.
