originalshez
Afternoon We have a DN360 that is dropping 6dB on one side, and then after a couple of hours of use the 6dB returns. I've taken the casing off the unit, and all the solder joints look intact and not dry, and everything else looks fine within the unit itself. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered an issue like this? The unit is usually inserted over FOH, but the drop is the same whether it is inserted or in line, so have ruled out any issues with insert cables/points etc Cheers Sam
whisky-zulu
Encountered a similar issue when I was on ships with the DN360s (every single one on board), even our electricians were stumped - units ended up being sent back to KT and was never told what the fault was. James Remo
As it's a 6db drop it could be something becoming unbalanced
timd
As it's a 6db drop it could be something becoming unbalanced Which of course is consistent with it working on the insert point which is unbalanced anyway.

originalshez
But given the drop of 6dB is present whether the graph is inserted or in line, the nature of the insert points is irrelevant in solving this issue. If it was down to the nature of the insert points, the level would be the same on both sides
Rob_Beech
That would depend if you DO have balanced insert points, and whether it IS a balanced unit. If this is so then losing pin 3, or pin 2 if it.. AARRGGGHHHH KT WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? If you lose a "leg" then you will get the problem. If you're unbalanced anyway then it makes less sense. When you say you checked the solder joints, was this all over the graphic or just on the connector panel, I guess the output pot (which can stay in the same place for a while) could develop a fault. Is it actually 6dB or is it a drop in level that is probably about that. I've had 360 where the level goes all over the place when you put a light pressure on the output pot, but then again, I've had 2 of them catch fire.
