Glyn Edwards
Oops Somebody seems to have got something wrong. Thankfully nobody is reported as being hurt. (And nobody got cold standing outside for too long :))
Ynot
:DI'd bet someone's backside is in a sling this morning!!
scjb
Not the first time it's happened, doubt it will be the last... and yes, I suspect someone is feeling a little sheepish today! EDIT TO ADD: ...and based on the previous occurences I'd lay very good money that it wasn't a technical issue.
Brian
You've got to love this... Firing Systems All our shows are now fired electronically ... and allows us the design of complex rapid firing chase sequences.
ramdram
Ref Brian...presumably there is a delay or pause function in the sequencer doodad...which was forgotten about and the fire command(?) simply followed orders? Further presume that if there had been a real fault the entire display would have lasted just a few seconds, if that, ** laughs out loud **. Perhaps the blokes will decide to do the manual fire control next year...presuming they are invited back...
kerry davies
Just another day at the finale rack, don't see a problem here, guv! :D Probably mis-wired, Ross but anything is possible with techno-geekery. Pass the portfire please!
ramdram
And I even knew what a portfire is, ** laughs out loud **. From the French ? = carry fire, possibly port feu?
bigclive
Sweet! So was it a home-built firing system with no diodes in the multiplexing matrix, or perhaps a stepped firing system that inadvertently got set to "machine-gun" firing mode. I can just imagine how the person firing the show felt. Assuming they even knew what had happened initially.
alistairhammond
I quite enjoyed it actually. They should do more of these 'hi-speed' fireworks displays.
the kid
I quite enjoyed it actually. They should do more of these 'hi-speed' fireworks displays. How many places will take the idea for next year? I wonder about NYE in London the same way, cause that would be IMPRESSIVE. *cough hint going this year again*

slipstream
Pyro1 - they are a good company - to get a 1 min show - had to be a sequence - the average cake runs 40 sec and total show was 1 min so I would guess a box set to run over 20 seconds. Pretty sure they use the Nighthawk systems, it's not going to be a homebrew. Gonna be redfaces all round, we all have little local issues but when you make it to national news . . . . Just had a look at the used system as per the website - on the companies website for the controller it says quite clearly . . . . . • Programmable ??????? - think the company will be agreeing to that one!!! bigclive
On a plus note, it looks like people did actually think the mega show was awesome compared to the long drawn out one-at-a-time arty-farty show. Residents have been quoted as saying it may only have lasted a minute, but it was better than Sydney's fireworks during that minute.
J Pearce
I quite like it as a concept. Bangbangbang then back to the warmth of the pub.
