Ashley R
Hi BR Was after some help sourcing some Neutrik 5 Pin XLR connectors, of the XX variety. So far all ive come up with are people wanting some decent amounts of cash for just a single set ($25, for one set!). Ive already had a look at CLP distribution, as reccomended from another thread, but diden't see any prices listed, also in the thread there was mention of requiring a trade account with them... . Any other alternatives? Whats the cheapest way of buying them? By the loose bulk lot of 100 connectors? I will be chasing up more local sources during next week, so hopefully come up with something there. Thanks Ash
TomHoward
CLD price is £3.46/piece for NC5MXX when bought by the hundred. You just need to register with the site to see prices, they'll still do credit card sales etc over the phone - you don't need a credit account to purchase from them. Ashley R
wouldnt recomend buying anything cheap, I have only ever had bad experiences with bad cables/connectors : ) But I'm asking for a cheap/ low cost supplier or Neutrik connectors? Neutrik being essentially the worldwide standard for all things XLR. Where did I say that I wanted to buy cheap crummy connectors? (Also going to be shilling out on the nice Belden 8102 cable as well!)

ramdram
** laughs out loud **, I believe AR mentioned 100. I suspect he meant also that Neutrik 5pin XX series were the product of his choice. However, you will note that AR is rather a long way off so he would have to factor in the P&P. Ergo it may be a trade off between inexpensive connectors v. cost of shipping etc. At least that's how I understand the question...
Ashley R
ramdarm wins the prize for reading the post correctly! Your prize a Happy face, Here it is http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif. Yes I am a long way off from the UK, but just a quick look on eBay, the prices even inc shipping were competitive with what's locally here, so with all the years of wisdom from the rest of the world here, might be able to find somewhere cheaper than the eBay prices. (Few quid a connector), Just stumbled upon a US listing, where they were going for $5 a pop + shipping, now just to find out if I can get a discount + cheap postage on a hundred or two. And yes looking for the cheapest price possible, as the shipping is going to jack that price back up. I am planning on calling the local distro, and seeing what they can do, but I'm not terribly hopeful, as all I would buy from them is Neutrik connectors (They do primarily Audio stuff)
mac.calder
The Australian importer for Neutrik is Amber Technology. They will be able to give you the best local price. You are looking at about AU$12/pce for male and AU$15/pce for female. I cannot remember if my AmberTech source book is list or industry buy price - so allow a couple of dollars extra either way. The main issue you have is that $5 + p&h is all well and good for a single connector (as P&H would be a couple of dollars for international standard post). 100 connectors of each gender and you are starting to look at shipping being a couple of hundred dollars (unless it goes on the slow boat). Also, a purchase of 100 connectors will require that you pay import duties, clearing charges etc. It is not cheap. Add 10% + another $250 in admin fees. Brian
... might be able to find somewhere cheaper than the eBay prices.I'm sure I don't need to point this out but Neutrik have suffered at the hands of the cloners and not everything sold as Neutrik is made by Neutrik. The prices listed are RRP's as thats about the same price that Factory Sound has got them at. Just got an email back. So far its looking like it will be just under $1000 Inc Shipping for 200 connectors from the US. They are of the XX variety. using USPS ... might be able to find somewhere cheaper than the eBay prices.I'm sure I don't need to point this out but Neutrik have suffered at the hands of the cloners and not everything sold as Neutrik is made by Neutrik. I have seen many a copy of Neutrik's older design, which had the 'window' in it for the latch. But am yet to see a clone of the XX line of connectors. Here are the listingshttp://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OEM-Neutrik-NC5MXX-5-Pin-DMX-XLR-Male-Cable-End-Conx-/250787138901?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a64140d55#ht_901wt_1037http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OEM-Neutrik-NC5FXX-5-Pin-DMX-XLR-Female-Cable-End-Conx-/250787141332?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a641416d4#ht_1142wt_1037 But I will be chasing up Amber Technology Today or tomorrow, so we will see how we go with that. Ashley R
Well called up Amber Tech, they were not interested unless I bought about 250 sets a month! Started ringing around elsewhere and kept on getting prices arrounf $2200 for 200 connectors (100 male, 100female). So it looks like I might be buying them from the UK to get a half decent price. skennedy
My suggestion is to order from an electronics distribution company. I am also based in Melbourne, and have found the industry here pretty hostile to giving anyone but mates normal prices, that being said Factory Sound in South Melbourne do sometime do amazing deals depending who serves you. I have found Mouser Electronicsto be extremely good. They are based in Texas and from their US page offer $30USD 1-3 day shipping to Australia. You need to compare the prices between their "Australian" site, in AUD with $39 shipping and free if the total if above $200 and their US site, in USD. The prices are almost always cheaper by a fair bit on the US website and with an exchange rate as good as it is at the moment, works out to be often much cheaper paying $30 for shipping. NC5mxx are $4.09US at 100 pieces NC5fxx are $5.83US at 100 pieces Simon Kennedy
Ashley R
Thank you very much Simon for that recomendation. Just seems then it will either be the UK or the US ill be buying them from! At ruffly $5 per connector, compared to $12-$15 here, you can see why. Simon - Have you bought Neutrik connectors from Mouser before (As mentioned before, there are copies out there, but haven't seen any of the XX series though).? That remind's me I've got to shoot factory sound an email.

skennedy
The best part about buying from Mouser or Digikey or Farnell (now Element14) or any other the other big electronic resellers, is that you know that the stuff is going to be what they say it is. Their reputation is most important to them. I have purchased some Neutrik connector from Mouser before and was pretty impressed by the delivery speed and most importantly the price.
