DonkiDonki
I have used a utility called "Pro widget tool kit" for some time which generates Artnet with the Enttec DMX Pro interface. It can do DMX-Artnet and Artnet-DMX, a really handy utility for a number of uses. I recently tried to use it and it seems it is not WIndows7 compatible, it runs but crashes as soon as it tries to send data to through the Enttec unit. I no longer have XP on any of my PC's and I'd rather not go back to XP as everything else works just fine. My question is, does anyone know of an updated version of the utility or an alternative piece of software to do the same job which is Windows7 compatible? Hippy also wrote a comand line version that is much more reliable, works well on xp but it's a simple and well behaved program so it *should* work on win7http://members.westnet.com.au/rowanmac/artnode.htm also check out olait does exactly what you want, is in active development but only runs on linux and mac.http://www.opendmx.net/index.php/Open_Lighting_Architecture personaly I'm not convinced on switching to 7 yet. looks nice and all, but I dont need any more eye candy. ewan. peternewman
The software sounds neat. Apparently there's a Win XP SP3 compatibility mode on Win 7, that might help; although I've also heard rumours its not in the standard home edition. Or is there stuff to give it higher permissions to talk to the hardware? I assume you've tried the latest version from Hippy's website?
DrV
I've got this softwre running on my Win7 64bit laptop - home edition so no XPcompat mode. I don't use it enough to know whether it's reliable but it works. I'm using the Enttec PRO too. However, I don't think I've ever used it to display or convert Artnet, only to display DMX.Dave
Ken Coker
This may or may not help, but certainly with AL's DMX-Workshop,(a similar app?), one has to run it as an administrator.More details here - http://goo.gl/LKNGN Certainly, with that tweak, DMX-W runs under Win7 Apologies if you've been down this route. KC I tried compatability & run as admin and it came up with "component 'mswinsck.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid" I will go google that file and see if I find anything that helps
