Stairville X-50 LED Scanners

Hi to all, I am looking for some advice. I have recently had delivered 6 Stairville x-50 50W Led Scanners from Thoman in Germany. When setting the lights up for the first time, I have discovered that on 2 of the lights, the colour wheel and the motorized focus motors are non operational at all without response to anything, same symtoms in both lights. I have tried the lights via my DMX software and also on stand alone mode and have also tried re-setting the lights with no conclusion to the problem. Am I just unlucky or am I having a blonde moment? I find it strange that out of 6 lights brand new lights I have 2 faulty ones with the same symtoms so I ask for your help, am I doing something wrong and are these lights not supposed to be QC tested before they are made available for sale?

Last question is - - Are these lights the same as the Chauvuet Intimidator 300's as they are identical on exterior and seem to have same gobo's inside etc etc.. Any comments on these lights??

Thanks

Jamie

The obvious thing to try is to set all 6 to the same DMX address and then see if they all do the same things. If they do, they are fine and the controller is sending duff data. If two do different things, then give thomann a call and they will replace them.

Yep, could be a data problem in terms of your controller sending incorrect signals to certain addresses but it also could well be faulty units!

If they are suspected faulty units then whatever you do.. don't open them up as it may void warranty.. just phone up Thomann and they'll sort it out for you. They have fantastic customer service and you'll probably receive new units very quickly from them!

The only real problem is that they won't want to ship the replacements until yours turn up - and post TO Germany is much slower than Germany to here! They'll sort everything. Don't be afraid to phone them, because many staff are English, and the Germans speak it better than we do.They won't give you a hard time. P

The only time I have had to send back something it was returned within a week, so I suspect it is not always the case it is slow UK to Germany

The lights are really impressive. I took them to the night club I DJ in and put 2 of them in for the weekend, they were actually brighter than all the discharge lamps that were installed in the club and we are talking 575watt discharge lamps here. The beams are also very sharp. There is only one thing that let these lights down, and that is the built in program's. If you are intending on using a software or DMX controller for these lights to produce your own light shows then I would say they are perfect. The controller I have purchased is the Sunlight Stick which allows you to write your lights shows using sunlight esa pro software and save them onto mini sd card which is plugged into the STICK to allow it to run your dynamic light shows of your choice. Expensive controller but saves you having to run a computer and midi touch pads to run software.

On top of that I was previously looking at purchasing the chauvet intimidator 300's led scanner but they were bit to expensive for me as I was looking at buying 6 of them... Guess what,, the staiville's are the exact same unit manufactured by chauvet, only difference is the badge on the tin! Chauvet is a quality product for the money, knowing these lights are the same put my mind at ease. Check it out..
