TomHoward
Afternoon all Has anyone got any recommendations for 8-10" speakers for a music classroom install? It's for moderate quality playback of CD, computer and DVD. Ideally either active speakers or a pair of passives and amp for less than £450 the lot. I've been looking at the Batmink OEM 'Vector Audio' range, or the LD Systems 'Sat' range - any recommendations? We're looking to pair this with some kind of input selection which will give us level & source selection on a wall plate - currently we're looking at a Cloud CX-261 with a wall plate - unless anyone knows of any cheaper options? There's the new Cloud MA-60 but we'd rather keep it stereo if possible. Thanks in advance
themadhippy
unless anyone knows of any cheaper options?dual 10k log pot and a double pole rotary switch on a standard blanking plate not an option?
TomHoward
Possibly is, depends how variable the input levels are. That would save us £300.. What would the values be for a rotary pot for line level attenuation? Would we need a shunt resistor?
mervaka
I'd be careful with using a dual gang pot if CMR is useful to you. you might find the tolerances the tracks are manufactured to aren't sufficient to keep a good CMRR, in which case it might be easier to just stick a single 1M or so variable shunt resistor between hot and cold. not ideal, but the simplest solution that doesn't mess up CMR. EDIT: sorry, I thought I read this was a balanced system. if not, you can ignore this.
TomHoward
Here's a quick one - if using a rotary switch for unbalanced stereo signals, would you bother with a three-pole and switch the earth, or just sum all the earths at the switch? dbuckley
Common the earths. Always.
