Boltonguy
Hi guys. Hope you are all well. I know this is small fry but im a solo artist using backing tracks. I currently have a behringer x1204usb desk. (Dont mock!) However, im looking at getting something a little more sophisticated (better pre-amp, better effects) but whilst still being small. I only use 1 mic input and one stereo input. I have looked at the ZED10FX by Allen & Heath but this does not have a footswitch option in respect of muting the effects and the ZED12FX is slightly too big. I have also seen the mackie profx8 which looks good despite the 7 band graphic eq. Does anyone have any reccomendations? Thanks for any comments. MarkPAman
Do you need the USB connection? If not are the small versions of these too big? Soundcraft MFXi Soundcraft EFX I can't really think of anything that small that's going to be any better than your Behringer. Well, except for this ;) You may be better off with a separate effects unit for now & then upgrade the desk later if you still need a better preamp. Mixermend
I understand that the very latest production versions of the A&H ZED10FX do have a foot switch muting facility, but existing models can have a very simple modification done to add this. A&H technical support will be able to advice on the availability of the latest versions. It is a very nice mixer - and if you need something really compact - it is a very good choice. S&L
there is a neat way around the footswitch option which is to have a stand alone 2 channel footswitch and have the second channel hooked up to run different levels and fx levels...a few people make those foot switches but I have to confess I haven't had the opportunity to play with them. I have just bought a ZED10fx ( got it friday) and can confirm it has a footswitch for FX.
TimmyP1955
Used MixWiz. Better board, easier and cheaper to fix.
Mixermend
I can confirm that the ZED10FX will be easy to repair - as it is built in the same way as other Allen & Heath mixers, having individual PCB's for each channel. The parts will also be readily available from A&H - so have no fears about future repairs, if necessary...... As many will be aware - this usually is not the case with other makes of mixers constructed on a single PCB. HOW MANY KNOBS AND JACK SOCKET NUTS AND SCREWS HAVE I GOT TO REMOVE?!!!!
